Different Types of Function Room Setup / Banquet Room setup

The Design and décor of function rooms, like the food and beverages that are served in them, can take many forms. A simple coffee break can be served in an undecorated theme less room, while elaborated reception, meeting or reception has complex layout and decorations to fit the theme.

Additionally the guests at banquets and catered events must be served quickly, the layout and service stations should be setup to allow for maximum staff efficiency.

The best way to layout a room is dependent on a number of factors including: 

Space available inside the banquet hall.

Size of the audience ie (minimum guaranteed pax and maximum).

Expected level of activity and interaction required.

Place required for dinner tables, meeting tables and head tables.

Details of equipment's required eg projectors, screen, lecterns, Flip chart, board, dance floor, stage etc.

The type of service. Eg: Site down full service, Buffet etc.

Below are 10 Main styles of banquet / event room setup:

1.  Banquet / Wedding Style




2. Board Meeting Style

·         Boardroom style use for formal meeting, the standard is using two Oblong tables and use two half-moon tables at the edge

·         The meaning of round edge is the meeting participant are under one organization, the head of organization can be place at the round edge






3. Herringbone or fish bone style



4. Hollow Square Style

·         Setup: Tables in square shape w/ chairs on outside

·         Best for: Events where focal point is in the center and/or interaction between participants is encouraged





5. Lecture Room - Training Room Style /Round table style

·         Round table style for informal meeting

·         You can use 150 centimeters or 180 centimeters diameter roundtable depend on the participant

·         It’s suitable for workshop seminar that needs discussion and interaction between the speaker and among participant





6. School Room

·         Classroom style is ideal for teaching events, testing, or other meetings where participants will be writing

·         This setup consists of 6-foot tables with up to 3 chairs facing a panel table or podium at the front






7. T Shape - Style



8. Theater Style

·         Theater style is ideal for lectures, presentations, and group meetings of any size

·         It consists of chairs in rows facing a panel table or podium at the front of the room

·         This meeting setup is suitable for half-day meeting or meeting not more than 4 hours





9. U Style

·         Similar to conference room style, a U-shape setup will help facilitate discussion with participants facing each other, but with one end up, U-shape setup is ideal for seminars and group meetings with presentations





10. Clusters


Many hotel offers various reasonably priced/affordable fully air conditioned banquet halls available for business functions i.e. Non –Residential Conference, Residential Conference, Meetings, Seminars, Corporate Training, Symposium, Exhibition, Get together and for family functions i.e. Family get-together, Kitty Parties, Birthday, Engagement/Ring Ceremony, Mehendi, Sangeet, Reception, Anniversary, Baby Shower, and Funeral/Besna.
